EZE'S GUIDE TO THE SPRING TRAP
Spring Traps are hidden springs that cause instant death to the 1st set of troops that trigger it. The only setbacks that the Spring Trap has it that its not strong enough to spring all troops. It will instantly kill any troop from the 15-19 housing space (depending on the Spring Traps level) as long as that particular troop is slow enough to get sprung. High speed troops like the Goblin can run right over the Spring Trap and be long gone by the time the spring pops up. Other troops under Haste Spell or Rage Spell have been known to slip over the Spring Trap without being launched to their death. Larger troops like the P.E.K.K.A., Golem or any other troop with over 19 housing space will not be effected by the Spring Trap although they will indeed trigger the trap.
Placing the Spring Traps on your map can be a little tricky. The objective is to bounce as many troops out of your base as possible but the tricky part is that most attacks are lead by troops that are NOT effected by the trap. If you consider the pathing of the Golem you can help avoid the tanking troops from disarming your Spring Traps before the lighter troops arrive. Golems target defenses only troops and
they are slow. Usually the support troops will have caught up to and even passed the Golem after 6-8 tiles once the Walls of the base have been penetrated. Its here in the 2nd to 3rd layer of walls that the Spring Traps are most effective.
Advanced players will build their base with the traps in mind and the Spring Trap in fairly high on that priority list. Many players will intentionally leave an opening in their walls at key locations. This will pull troops into that hole in their defenses and if those troops are under 15-19 housing space.. Away they go!

Another very important troop to use your Spring Traps as a primary defense mechanism against is the Hog Rider. Hog Riders are 5 housing space troops so carefully placed Spring Traps can get up to 3 Hogs at a time. Again carefully considering the troops pathing once they have jumped over that 1st wall is imperative. Hog Riders jump from defense to defense so place the Spring Traps either right next to your defensive turret or in the middle of two nearby defenses. I have seen raids with 25 Hog Riders completely ruined because every time they moved from one defense to the next 3 more of them would get sprung off the map.

Many Players choose to place every single Spring Trap in the core of their base next to Town Hall. I have seen this work out well on occasion BUT as a personal preference I ask Damage Inc. players to consider using the Spring Traps on the outside of the Walls.. Especially on their war bases. This technique has saved our guys from many 3 star attacks. We have seen great Hog Rider raids end up with 8-10 Hogs left at the end of the raid and no defenses left to shot them down.. They had efficiently cleared all of the defenses off the map and as the Hog Riders were cleaning up the last row of collectors that were sitting outside of the walls they hit Spring Trap after Spring Trap until they were GONE! We all got a laugh out of that raid.. All but 1 person was laughing.. That was the attacker who got the dreaded 99% all because of a few well placed Spring Traps!

Spring Traps are a fairly basic trap and there is not a great deal of additional thought that needs to go into using them but a few closing tips.. if your Clan Castle trigger zone is close to one particular wall try adding a pair of spring traps in between the two trash buildings outside of the walls. Many players will start their raids with one or a pair of Hog Riders jumping over the exterior walls triggering your CC troops for a much easier pull and kill on them. By adding the 2 Spring Traps outside of the walls you may spring those Hogs instead which will completely throw his entire attack out of sync. Look for other advantageous areas around the extremities of your base where a few Springs may be just what saves the day for you.

Finally I like to advise our guys to use the overpowering method, especially on your home village where everyone that attacks only gets one shot at it. We all know to place the Giant Bombs in groups of 2s but try placing them all together in one group and see if you will have the same results as I have.. about 1 of 3 raids are fails when a large group of troops crosses over all of the Giant Bombs at 1 time. The same can go for the Spring Traps. Try placing them all in one block on your base about 10x10 tiles. Watch what happens if they decide to raid with a large group of troops and the just so happen to path directly over you large sets of overpowering traps. There is a small risk factor involved but the rewards can make it worth the risk!
