 When the core of a base gets too hot to handle make Clashsicles! Put defensive troops or buildings in a temporary deep freeze! 

  EZE'S GUIDE TO THE FREEZE SPELL  

       Once you reach Town Hall 9 the most expensive spell per housing space becomes available. Laboratory level 4 is needed for the Freeze Spell as well. For all of the players that are keeping a close eye on their War Weight (aka Base Weight or Raw Weight) be warned right now the Freeze Spell tilts the scales maxing out at bulky 8250. The reason for the big weight, as I love saying, is because it's worth it! In TH9 vs other TH9s there may be better spell options but if your attacking a TH10 and especially once you make it to TH10 yourself, the Freeze may become an "every raid" type of spell for you.Freeze is a tricky spell to use because it expires fast, especially at LVL 1 and 2 so timing is everything with the Freeze!

       To reiterate the TH9 usage a little more, there are some cases where a Freeze Spell may come in handy but because there is not the imminent danger of the TH10-11 elite defenses other spells may have more overall value for you. Once attacking TH10 everything changes. In TH10 Inferno Towers protect the core of most bases and in single target mode they can quickly take down the biggest troops you have. In times like that, when your Barbarian King is caught in the single target Inferno Tower's beam you have 2 choices... destroy the Inferno Tower or Freeze it. Another great time for the Freeze Spell is when the TH11 defense the Eagle Artillery has targeted a large group of fragile troops like the Bowler or Witch and you have about 1 second to either freeze the Eagle or loose all of your troops in one smashing burst, thus inevitably ending your raid prematurely.

 

     Assuming most everyone already understands that freezing something means that you are immobilizing it and confirming that you can freeze both buildings and troops I will focus on explaining when a clutch Freeze Spell will help your raid the most. One great use is to use the Freeze on a part of a base that has the Clan Castle troops and key defenses in the target zone. By freezing both the troops and the defenses you may give your troops just enough time to eliminate both the troops and that or those key defenses without taking any damage yourself. Another very common use would be a well times freeze of the back end Inferno Tower. This is when your pushing your troops through the core of a base and your troops have just entered the range of the 1st Inferno Tower. Looking ahead a little you know that your troops can manage the 1st Inferno Tower BUT you also know that as your troops approach the 1st Inferno, the 2nd (or back end) Inferno will also target your troops and fighting off both Inferno Towers at one time is never a good idea. Just as the second Inferno would normally begin to target and begin melting your troops you drop the Freeze Spell on the back end Inferno. This will give your troops the time they need to take down the 1st Inferno and hopefully reach the second just before or as the spells effects begin to fade away. By Freezing the Back end Inferno you have just made a potentially devastating situation much more manageable. Many players will bring 2 Freeze Spells and freeze both Inferno Towers as their troops approach them which also has proven to be quite effective.

     Using the Freeze Spell in combination with other spell is key. Freeze the Inferno Tower and quickly Heal Spell your troops (we all know the Heal does not work while your troops are being targeted by the Inferno Tower) or Freeze any key defense and use the Rage Spell to give your troops that quick boost of power they need to plow through that defense.

       If the defenses are too close together use the Freeze Spell in the middle of the cluster of defenses to to quickly silence a huge threat. Freezing a Hidden Tesla "farm" is a great example of this because most players will place all of the Hidden Teslas very close to one another. Remember that if you are doing a 2nd or 3rd attack on a base and know the location of a group of Hidden Teslas do NOT attempt to Freeze trey before they pop up. The Freeze will not prevent them from springing into action if dropped on their location in advance. Enemy CC troops traveling into an area that has an active Freeze Spell will not become frozen just by traveling through the area. Troops must be in the target area when the spell is initallty used to freeze them.

       When setting up your Village Defenses be sure to keep the Freeze Spell in mind. Keep the Inferno Towers far enough apart that they both can not be frozen at one time. The same goes for the Air Defense because they are another big target for the Freeze Spell. Players using Laloon or similar attacks will often freeze the Air Defenses just before their tanking Lava Hound gets over it. This will significantly increase the life expectancy of the Lava Hound giving the Balloons even more time to wreck the base.

 

      The Freeze Spell, when used correctly is a force to be reckoned with and should be carefully considered on both the offensive and defensive side of the game. For best results avoid the freeze in TH9 and never leave home without at least one in TH10!
