As you can see in this picture of my village there has been a lot of effort to keep the Dark Elixir as safe as possible! I would STRONGLY suggest that you take similar precautions!

       When on a raid the Dark Elixir Storage should always be one of your primary targets even if you are in need of other resources. The reasoning behind this is that if you can get through their defenses to the Dark Elixir Storage than you will usually obtain a large % of other resources on the way in to the core to get the "DE" for short. For those beginners out there good planning is vital to every raid and every raid is a little different than the last BUT repetition is one of the keys to success in Clash of Clans so if you build your army and plan on trying to get the DE Storage every rid you will have a more consistent raid than if you go for Gold on one raid and for trophies on the next etc. Furthermore, "Barching" which is the use of Barbarians and Archers to overwhelm the perimeter defenses, is NOT typically the way to get to the Dark Elixir Storage. You will want to bring the right troops for these types of raids.. a good raid to try would be the Goblin Knife,(this video is geared towards TH10s but you will get the basics from it) which is specifically designed for the DE plundering. So.. go for the Dark Elixir Storages on every raid, it will help you in many different ways!

       In the Clan War setting you will want to use your DE Storage as a shield because it has extremely high hit points and remember that you do not loose any of your personal Dark Elixir on a war attack. The reward comes from the war not from your own personal stash! You can use your DE Storage to protect your most important defenses just MAKE SURE that both air and ground targeting defenses have the DE Storage in their range so your defenses can beat up what ever troop is trying to chop through the Storage. EZE TIP- Because so many people use the DE Storage to protect their most important part of the base you can use this to your advantage. For example advanced players will use a strategy that utilizes the Hidden Tesla towers by grouping all 4 of them together called a "Tesla Farm" The Tesla Farm will provide a highly concentrated area of damage for the unsuspecting troops. These advanced players will also protect their Tesla Farm with other defenses and especially storages like the DE Storage. They will force attackers to go through these high HP buildings to get to the 4 Teslas that are smashing on the at the rate of almost 3 hits a second. Advanced attackers can sniff out the Tesla Farms by looking for the string of empty 2x2 spaces where the hidden traps could be that just so happen to have 2-3 storages nearby that seem to be protecting nothing. What YOU could do is place your DE Storage next to an area that COULD have the Tesla Farm in it but does not.. this may throw the attacker off just enough to give you an advantage elsewhere on the base. Point

being use your DE Storage as a key part of your defenses in

war NOT just another building that has no real value. I'm

still amazed how many times I run across war bases that

have the DE STORAGES OUTSIDE OF THE WALLS and out

of the defenses reach.. what a waiste!

       The last few points I want to make will all be short and sweet (HAHA nothing I do is short and sweet) so here it goes

​

• upgrade the DE Storage ASAP in each new TH level

• try to keep your reserves low/ use the DE as soon as you can to keep invader to a minimum

• don't group all of your storages together in the core

• don't leave the DE Storage outside the walls! why would you anyway?

• focus on the DE Storage in each raid you do for more consistent raid results

• surround the DE Storage with traps on your village

• use your DE Storage as a shield in Clan Wars

• use your DE Storage as a decoy for Hidden Telas Farms in Clan Wars

• if you see EZE's base in multi STAY AWAY FROM MY DE!! :0  :)  :D
