Elixir Storages are one of the three storage buildings in the game of Clash of Clans. It is in these Storage buildings players stockpile The Elixir that  they collect from their Elixir Collectors in their Home Village and from what they collect from the raids that they go on  in the multi player game setting. The Elixir Storages are very high hit point buildings and should be considered a high value target for anyone that's going to raid your home village. There are several different factors that must be considered when placing the Elixir Storages on your Home Village and on your War Base because they go in different places on the 2 different bases.

      Let's start off with the Home Village. The Elixir Storages, like mentioned earlier, are a high priority target for invaders therefore it is a good idea not to keep them in any one location on the base... it is best to separate all of the storages in different quadrants of the base. Typically you would split your home Village into 4 Quadrants (3 in TH8 because you only have 3) and keep 1 storage in each of the four quadrants. This will prevent Invaders coming into your home Village and taking 50% of the base but managing to take 100% of what is in the storages. A lot of players make the mistake of placing all of their storages in the center of the base. By doing this it makes it easier for invaders to penetrate into the base, get to the core of the base and take everything from the core, leaving the base deprived of all resources. By separating the storages into 4 different quadrants players can count on and even percentage of the resources taken from the base, compared to the percentage of the damage done to the base.

      When placing your Elixir Storage on your War Base you should have a completely different mindset then placing your Elixir Storage on your Home Village. Your War Base is set up differently because attacking players do not take your resources, they gain resources that are reward it to them from the Clan War loot which does not come out of your personal stockpiles. Not having to worry about losing what is stored in the resource containers, players will use the storage containers as shields for the defenses. This is completely backwards than how you would set up your Home Village. On your Village you use your defenses to protect your storages and on your War Base you use your storage is to protect your defenses. This fundamental difference is why it is so much more difficult to attack a War Base than it is to attack a Village and why players have so much more difficulty 3 starring a War Bases over the same level base setup in the Village fashion.

      Upgrading your Elixir Storage should be done as soon as possible. There is always the war weight consideration when upgrading any building on your base. With this in mind, there is no Base Weight that you will gain from the upgrade at this time. In addition to the value you get from the upgrades it will be a necessity to have maxed out storages for your Town Hall level in order to do some of the higher level upgrades. With the Elixir storage you will need the extra capacity to upgrade your  troops in a Laboratory. Looks like there is nothing stopping you from maxing this building out ASAP!
