CLAN WAR TACTICS
Go to our ATTACKS 101 page for full explanations and videos on some of the best attacks in Clash of Clans
There are many different army compositions that have proven themselves at each Town Hall level. Not all army compositions will need to be deployed as suggested above. There are "Mass" attacks where players will use large groups of troops and deploy them all at one time and other more complex attack, a perfect example being the "Slap" attack where several smaller groups of troops are deployed at key locations on the map also all at one time (or close to it) Remember any time you are following a guide to help with your attacks you should always consider what adaptations you will have to make to their suggestions.
We have a great page that may be of interest to anyone trying to find an attack that is right for them. This page has 10-15 attacks that have endured the test of time in the Clash Realm. There may be one on this page that will either catch your eye, adopt it as your own! There are links to several videos of attacks that Damage Inc has done over the years. If you are using one of the attacks listed but not enjoying the success that you think you deserve watch the video and pay close attention to how the attacks are done, what troops are used and when they are deployed. Who knows you might just get inspired and 3 star the world for the next couple of months! Good luck!

MIRROR ATTACKS
After fighting many, many clan wars, going on a huge win streak in the lower levels and now feeling the pinch of the stronger clans in the upper levels, we have come to the conclusion that winning or loosing Clan Wars all comes down to this... The Match-up!

As most Clashers already know, SuperCell rates your base and gives it a BASE WEIGHT (also known as Raw Weight or War Weight). This base weight is used as a metering device to match us up against other clans. What we did not know until recently is exactly what makes your base "heavy" or "light". A heavy base for example, is a base that has much higher defenses than offenses. A light base is a base that has much higher upgraded offenses than defenses. How does this happen? It's simple. As soon as most people upgrade Town Hall the 1st thing they do is add all of the new defenses onto their base and begin to upgrade them as fast as possible, meanwhile they may have started their Laboratory upgrade and are waiting for it to finish its upgrade so you can begin your troop upgrades. This causes your base to become heavy because you have all of the defenses for the new town hall level but none of the troop upgrades. Then you match-up to another clan with all of their defensive upgrades done as well as all of their troop upgrades done and you are at a serious disadvantage. This is how you loose clan wars!! HOW DO YOU FIX THIS?? That is simple as well. You upgrade your base to whats called the .5 meaning when you upgrade your base to Town Hall 9 (for example) you will actually be going to Town Hall 8.5...

How do you upgrade to 8.5? That's a great question... this is how. When you upgrade your TH to 9 you DO NOT add the 1st defensive piece to your board (goto .5 Method for more details and the visit the Base Weight page for info on all of the troops and defenses weight). No defenses, no walls, nothing but collectors and other non-defensive buildings (traps ARE OK to add, they add little base weight) Instead you upgrade your Lab and begin upgrading your troops right away. You will notice that after you upgraded TH you have only moved up one or maybe 2 spots on your war map (instead of 5-6 spots if you were to do all of your defenses first.) As you max out your troops for your TH level you will notice that all of your attacks on your mirror bases will become easier and easier and in many wars your opponent will be a TH lower than you are. Once you have all of your troops maxed out for you TH level you will officially be a TH 8.5 (if you were going to TH9) Once your troops are maxed you begin adding all of your new defenses to the board and upgrading all of your existing pieces like crazy.. Clans that force their members to upgrade troops 1st and defenses 2nd are the clans that have a tactical advantage in EVERY WAR THEY ARE IN!

THE 3 STAR ATTACK
3 WORDS TO REMEMBER PLANNING,PRIORITY AND OBJECTIVES
SUCCESSFUL ATTACKS START LONG BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR ATTACK. YOU MUST PLAN EVERY MOVE YOU WANT TO MAKE BY SETTING OBJECTIVES AND THEN PRIORITIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF EACH THOSE OBJECTIVES.
PLANNING
SCOUT THE BASE….
WHAT WEAKNESS DOES THE BASE HAVE
WHAT SPELLS AND WHEN TO USE THEM
WHAT TROOPS ARE IN THE KILL SQUAD
SPECIFY THE HEROES ROLES
WHATS THE MAIN BODY OF TROOPS
WHAT CLEAN UP TROOPS WILL YOU USE
OBJECTIVES

PULL ENEMY CLAN CASTLE TROOPS
FUNNEL YOUR TROOPS INTO THE BASE
KILL THE DEFENDING HEROES
SET OFF AS MANY TRAPS AS POSSIBLE W/ TANKS
HIT KEY TARGETS ON THE BASE
PRIORITIZING THE OBJECTIVES

THIS IS WHEN IT ALL COMES TOGETHER
-
ASSIGN PLAN A AND B FOR CC LURE AND ANCHOR
-
MAP THE KILL SQUADS PATH INTO BASE. BASED ON ATTACK STRATEGY IDENTIFY YOUR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY TARGETS
-
PLAN SPELL PLACEMENT AGAIN
-
ASSIGN ACTION POINTS TO YOUR TARGETS
-
(action points are what you will do once that target is eliminated/ actions are usually Hero deployment, CC troop deployment, reinforcements for kill squad or clean up troops
-

THE BEGINNERS GUIDE TO
THE 3 STAR ATTACK
Mirror attacking is strictly for the elite clans to utilize. It is saying that our #1 will 3 star your #1, our #2 will 3 star your #2 etc. This tactic means that you will look across at the other clan and attack what ever number in their line up matches your number.

You will have to study your Mirror Opponent. It is always a good idea to set up your defenses to defend against your mirror player as well. Check out what they are building in their village and if they are already building war troops, use that information to your advantage.
During a Mirror Attack you will attack your mirror. If you 3 star then you search for a base that was not 3 starred by one of your team mates and try to clean up that base. Please do not attack a base that has not been attacked yet (on your second attack) until the 2nd half of the war. Remember we are an international clan so when its 10 pm where you like it may be 4am where your teammate lives. Please give them a chance to attack their mirror before jumping all over their base.

This attack will take alot more time than a normal attack because you may have to wait till the 2nd half of the war to use your 2nd attack.

Remember that if you fail to 3 star on your 1st attack than you need to drop down to a weaker base for your 2nd attack.

We understand that this attack tactic my cause favorable match-ups for most of the clan but a very bad match up for you. Talk to your clan before you go on a suicide run!
DROP DOWN ATTACKS OR "THE DIP ATTACK"
ROTATION ATTACKS
The rotation attacks ate the strictest form of attacks that a clan engage in. We will use this tactic when the top of our clan is stronger that our opponents but the middle of the clan is not. What we will do is use our #1 to attack their #1 and #2. our #2 will attack their #3 and #4. Our #3 will attack their #5 and #6. We will continue this process down to #15 unless otherwise posted in the clan mail. The goal of this attack is for the strength of our clan to cover the top 30 members of the opposing clan and for the rest of our clan to go down and 3 star the bottom 20 members of their clan.

We understand that there are still great players that have to drop down and attack way under their number in the lineup. So this is what we will do. If you are #22 in our lineup (for example) you will drop down to any number under 30 that you can 3 star. Once you 3 star on your 1st attack then you should go pick a number near your own number (even if its in the top 30) and attack it with your 2nd attack. If you do not 3 star then go down a little lower than you did on your 1st attack and try for the 3 star again.
If you are #12 (for example) then you would attack #23 and #24 in any order. If you attack #23 and someone from the bottom of the clan attacks 24 because they 3 starred their 1st base either clean up the base (if it wasn't 3 starred) or allow your 1st attack to dictate your next move which is if you 3 starred attack any number or if you did not 3 star then drop down to a lower base and try for the 3 star.
This may seem like a complicated attack scheme but it's really pretty simple. If your in the top 15 then simply double your number in the lineup, attack that number and the one under it. ( so #7 will attack 14 and 13... #14 will attack 28 and 27 etc)

THIS PAGE CAN HELP NEW CLANS DEVELOP BASIC CLAN WAR STRATEGIES BASED ON WHAT HAS WORKED FOR SUCCESSFUL CLANS.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE JUST THE BASICS. ONCE YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND THEM BEGIN TO DEVELOP YOUR OWN UNIQUE TACTICS
This is one of our most common attack strategies. What we are trying to do in this attack format is to create easier matches for most of the clan by asking the top 10 players in the clan to attack their top 20. The pattern of attacks are as follows:
Our #1 thru #5 players will use their 1st and 2nd attacks on our opponents #1 thru #10 players. This will allow our #6 thru #10 players to use both of their attacks on on opponents #11 thru #20 bases. This will put alot of pressure on the top of our clan to get 3 stars because they will not be able to drop down on their second attack into their comfort zone (if that zone is out of the top 20)
The rest of the clan has the freedom to pick and choose on any base from #21 on down. It is designed to allow our #11 player to start off with their #21 player if he/she so desires, which will be a much easier match up than a player closer to
their own number in the line up.
This page was originally posted on the Damage Inc home page and was intended for the clan only. We have changed the language to address a much more broad audience but some parts of this page may seem a little off due to these adaptations.. Just think of yourself as an honorary member of Damage Inc. and roll with it!
JUMP UP TO DIP DOWN
This may sound a little odd at first but it is one of the
most common strategies used by elite clans in Clash of Clans
especially in the Friendly Challenge Leagues. It is intended for
clans with several tough TH11 at the top of their lineup followed
by highly upgraded and skilled TH10s. There are 2 major parts to this attack format that have to work perfectly to be a success. 1st the jump up...
For this example let's say there are 5 TH11s at the top of the enemy clan's line up. Following them are ten TH10s and the rest are TH9s and a few 8s at the bottom of the war line up. Because it is a very difficult task for many TH11s to 3 star other TH11s (especially if the bases you are attacking are all maxed 11s) yet skilled TH10s have the capability to 2 star those same TH11s, a very interesting tactic has surfaced. The best 5 TH10s will jump up and attack those top 5 bases (the five TH11s) they will attack those bases with the strongest 2 star strategy they have in hopes for five 2 star attacks on the top five TH11s.

In most cases the top TH10s in the lineup will be just as difficult for your TH10s to 3 star as the top TH11s were for your TH11s. This problem is often made much worse when your clan tries to attack those tough TH10s with your best TH10s and fail with nine 2 star attacks (is a 2 star attack really a fail on a maxed TH10? For elite clans it most definitely is!) So instead of risking a 0-2 star attack on the TH10s your top 5 players (remember in this example they are all maxed 11s) will dip down and attack those pesky 10s. At TH11 even the toughest TH10 can be 3 starred with the right planning and a strong performance from none other than the star of all TH11 attacks, The Grand Warden. With the Warden's help the odds of a 3 star on those 10s are much better than if the TH10s were to attack it.
To recap- your top 5 players are TH11. They dip down to 3 star the best 5 TH10s the enemy clan has. Meanwhile your best 5 TH10s jump up to 2 star their top 5 TH11s. If all goes well your clan will have 10 stars ion the top five bases and 15 more on their top 5 TH10 bases. Is this an easy thing to do. NO! LOL there will be many failed attacks by the TH10s until they have mastered the art of 2 starring the elite TH11s BUT once they do your clan will have a huge advantage every war!
