EZE'S GUIDE TO THE AIR SWEEPER

The Air Sweeper is an interesting defensive
unit that does not damage the attacker BUT
what it does do is blow the attackers back
several tiles. Air Sweepers can only defend in
the direction that it is placed so be careful to
aim the Sweeper in a direction that will have the
greatest impact on the pathing of the air units.
Slow moving air units such as Balloons are
most likely to suffer from the effects of the Air
Sweeper. In some cases when the attacker
ignores the Air Sweeper and attacks it head on,
it can delay the attack allowing the defenses in
that area to inflict an additional four or five seconds of damage on the attacking troops which in many cases is all they need to drop those pesky attackers from the sky.

A popular strategy is to place the Air Sweeper(s) near the core of the base and position the Sweeper so it blows directly over Town Hall. As the flying units approach Town Hall they get blown back over and over. This constant interruption may actually save you a star in many cases. DO NOT underestimate the effectiveness of this defensive tool just because it does not inflict direct damage! Air Sweeper may be the most underestimated and underutilized defense in all of Clash! Another VERY useful way to use the Sweepers are in the defense from the dreaded Queen Walk. Make sure the Air Sweeper is out of the Archer Queen's range (7-8 tiles from the outer walls) and face the Air Sweeper towards the location where attackers start their Queen Walks from. (how do you know where they start from you might ask? Good Question! You WATCH REPLAYS on attacks done on your base!) Of course the Sweeper will not effect the Queen directly but it will blow the Healer off of her back over and over. This in combination with several Seeking Air Mines and an overload of defenses in that area may be enough to kill the Queen or even better, remove the temptation from using that particular tactic there all together! That's a win/ win if you ask me!

Overall the Air Sweeper is an excellent tool if used properly but it does take some experience to know exactly where on your base they will be of the most use. Take the time to do the research required to utilize the Sweeper to its fullest potential. If your questioning where to place them on your particular base simply place them in the core of the base and point then towards the Air Defenses. This will guarantee that at least the Air Defenses will get the benefits of the Sweeper and they are a high priority defense to protect. There are a few don'ts and never's too. Don't place the Air Sweeper outside of the Walls and don't place them on the 1st layer of defenses behind the wall and point them out of the base.. that's limiting their possible range way too much. If they are placed anywhere near the outer walls due to a specialized base design then be sure to point them into the base to possibly delay the air troops on the back end of the attack. Never place the Air Sweeper next to an Air Defense to where they are touching each other, especially in a Clan War where your base will get studied before it's attacked. If you place the Air Sweeper too close to the Air Defenses the attacker will Zap-Quake both the Air Defense and the Air Sweeper together and you will loose them both at 1 time!
Don't place both Air defenses in the same proximity and point them both in the same direction until you have completely mastered predicting the air troops pathing. Many players think they can influence attackers to attack from a specific direction just by placing both Air Sweeper close by and pointing the same direction. They will then trap the area where they think the attacker will come in from based on their Sweeper placement. Its possible but its more possible that you will do more harm than good. Attacks unfold in unpredictable ways so its better to have an even disbursement of the defenses in case the attack ends up somewhere that you do not have any coverage. In addition to the uneven placement backfiring on you there is another factor that is often overlooked (which ironically is what you want in a different way) By setting up overpowering areas on your base, like doubling up on your Air Sweepers, you will raise suspicion from your attackers and the heightened suspicion will cause them to study your base for even longer, looking to uncover whatever trap you have in store for them. They may have a breakthrough moment during this time and concoct a miracle 3 star... so much thinking!
